For quite some time, there have been talks about the introduction of cash registers (CR) operating in the form of software. Such cash registers, like online devices in hardware form, are supposed to send data via the internet to the Central Repository of Cash Registers.
The way in which so called virtual CR will operate is outlined in the draft regulation on cash registers in the form of software that the Ministry of Finance sent for consultation as a draft version last year. Initially, the deadline for submitting comments was set for the 28th of August 2019 but it was extended several times.
At this moment, there are still many uncertainties regarding the CR in the form of software, but what is almost certain is that they will not be available to everyone. Only the taxpayers whose net sales in at least one of the previous two years have not exceeded EUR 10 million in terms of the Polish currency are to be entitled to use them.
Regulations on CR in the form of software are currently at the design stage, so it is difficult to say when it will come into force and in what shape. At this moment, CR in form of software is not available. Only the CR available in the hardware form are in compliance with the current fiscal law requirements.
