Puerto Rico, officially the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, is a Caribbean island and unincorporated territory of the United States with official Commonwealth status. It is located in the northeast Caribbean Sea, southeast of Miami, Florida, between the Dominican Republic and the U.S. Virgin Islands, and includes the eponymous main island and several smaller islands.
Merchants with an annual sales volume of above a certain value have to use a fiscal terminal that complies with law specifications, approved by the authorities.
Larger taxpayers, besides the fiscal terminal have the option of using cash registers which are able to communicate with the authorities.
However, both options imply sending of transaction data to the Department of Treasury.
