Lithuania, officially the Republic of Lithuania, is a country in the Baltic region of Europe. It is one of three Baltic states and lies on the eastern shore of the Baltic Sea. It borders Latvia to the north, Belarus to the east and south, Poland to the south, and Russia to the southwest (Kaliningrad Oblast), with a maritime border with Sweden to the west.
Lithuanian fiscalization history reaches back to 1996, when already cash register rules were defined by certain regulations.
In 2023 the i.EKA project was finalized and entered into force for all subjects of fiscalization requirements.
i.EKA project includes sending of transaction data directly to authorities.
This type of fiscalization is based on usage of a signature device which must be certified by the authorities.
There is also a possibility of using virtual fiscalization for document registration, but it is reserved for smaller taxpayers since it implies direct fiscalization on i.EKA portal of the tax authorities.
The solution to be used on the point of sale is subjected to examination by an expert company together with the complete technical documentation describing the relevant functionalities of the solution.
