Latvia, officially the Republic of Latvia, is a country in the Baltic region of Northern Europe. It is one of the Baltic states; and is bordered by Estonia to the north, Lithuania to the south, Russia to the east, Belarus to the southeast, and shares a maritime border with Sweden to the west.
The Latvian fiscalization system applied today was introduced in 2014, but the obligation of its implementation started in 2017.
Although there are several different types of cash registers allowed to be used, all of them have to be equipped with an electronic control tape for recording of transactions. Minimum data to be recorded for every transaction are predefined by the law and the receipt itself has to be provided to the customer for every purchase, but the form can be both paper and electronic.
The whole solution to be used on the POS – including both the hardware and software component, has to pass the certification procedure conducted by authorized conformity bodies.
