According to recent regulatory changes, included in the 2025 Finance Act, self-certification of cash registers is not allowed anymore.
That means that it is not possible anymore to prove compliance with the law with an individual certificate produced by the cash register software publisher. Compliance can only be claimed by obtaining a certificate attesting that their software meets the required conditions in terms of inalterability, security, conservation and archiving of the required data.
Such certificate is issued by an accredited third-party body – Infocert or LNE.
Any company that does not use cash register software with a certificate issued by an accredited body will be fined €7,500 per software or cash register system concerned. It has 60 days to comply. After this period, a new fine of €7,500 will apply.
Please act promptly if you are using a self-certified cash register, either by taking actions towards acquiring a certificate from an accredited third-party body if you are using an in-house developed system or check with your supplier what are the next steps. If you are a publisher company offering cash register systems in France and still do not have such a certificate, quick action is necessary as well, to ensure that your clients will be working in compliance with the law.
