Poland

Poland (Polish: Polska), officially the Republic of Poland, is a country located in Central Europe. Poland’s capital and largest metropolis is Warsaw. As a part of the group of European fiscal countries, Poland introduced fiscalization back in 1993.

In 2018, Poland joined the latest trend in the world of fiscalization, which is an online connection with the tax administration server.  In the future, sales data will be transferred online directly to the Central Repository of Cash Registers.

The fiscal cash registers with paper journal were fiscalized until the end of 2018.  After the fiscal memory of such a cash register becomes full, it’s no longer possible to exchange it for a new one, as it was the case so far. Cash registers with an electronic journal can be fiscalized until the end of 2022. and used until filling the fiscal memory. At the beginning, online cash registers will be obligatorily for tax payers providing automotive and vulcanization services, as well for petrol stations, starting as early as from January 2020.

In July 2020, online devices will become mandatory for hotels, guesthouses, and gastronomy in the broad sense. In addition, taxpayers selling coal, briquette and similar solid fuels will also be covered.

From January 2021, online cash registers will have to be used in hair and beauty salons, doctor’s and dentist’s offices, law offices, construction companies as well as in fitness and gym facilities. Other entrepreneurs, selling to individuals, which are not encompassed in any of the previous groups, will be required to introduce online cash registers by January 2023 at the latest.

Voluntary usage of new online devices, in other hand, is possible from May 2019. The new cash registers are to be easier to monitor, which in turn will help to reduce the number of inspections.
